Your fun
times are just beginning at Mountain Garden Getaway. Take a drive
into Jasper and take in life in this quaint hamlet. Sample some
fine Southern cooking at the local restaurants, including a chance
to grab a big breakfast and taking in the breathtaking views of the
Grand Canyon of the Ozarks. Or take some time to do a little
shopping in town for gifts. If you are looking to take a bit of an
antiquing excursion, head up north about a ˝ hour into Harrison to
find what you are looking for. And remember to get your food at the
local grocery store.
If its
outdoor adventure you crave, there are all kinds of activities.
Heading north on Route 7 towards Harrison, or east or west on Route
74, you are never far from the Buffalo River National Park, where
you can
easily rent a canoe and take some time riding on the Buffalo
River. Grab your fishing pole and tackle box and spend a relaxing
day trying to reel in “the big one” (you will need to get a fishing
license, and there are limits). Traveling west on Route 74 towards
Ponca, you can even take in a swim in nearby Steel Creek and other
swimming holes. If hiking is where it’s at, there are many
challenging trails in this most rugged wilderness area in Arkansas.
There is also rock climbing within close proximity if you want this
kind of adventure. Or take in a little spelunking at some of the
beautiful caves in the area. You might want just take your camera
and drive all around Newton County just to look at some of the most
beautiful country in the United States, and have the opportunity to
see why it is called the “Elk Capital of Arkansas”. And don’t
forget to visit the wildlife information centers close by.
But we
aren’t done yet. Do you want music? Do you want entertainment?
Then you and your posse can head up about an hour north over the
border and take in a day trip in Branson, Missouri. Sometimes
called the “Nashville of the Ozarks”, there are all kinds of country
music stars, legends and up-and-comers, all ready to get your
toes-a-tappin’. Throw in some good old rock and roll to dance your
day away. There are magic shows, and some of the brightest and
funniest comedy shows to get you to laugh until your ribs ache. For
the kids or those who are kids at heart, there’s the Silver Dollar
City amusement park. Or for those into nostalgia and history, you
can go through historic Branson and nearby historic Hollister. A
little further north (about a ˝-hour), you can see the goings on in
Springfield, including the chance to see what it’s like to eat some
“throwed rolls”.
To top it
all off, whether having enjoyed an outdoor adventure or an excursion
in Branson, come back to the Getaway and soothe your muscles
relaxing under the mountain stars in the hot tub.
There’s so
much to do, and so much to enjoy. And it all starts at Mountain
Garden Getaway!
